This 2013 meta-analysis looks at worldwide data on how parents' use of manipulation with their children relates to children's own use of manipulation (relational aggression) in peer relationships. The relationship is higher for teens than for younger children.
This meta-analysis demonstrates that thoughts about (moreso than feelings, behaviors, or physiological reactions to) parents fighting predict children's psychological problems, and that internalizing problems (sadness, anxiety, low self-esteem) are more closely related to their ways of coping with parental conflict than are externalizing problems (acting out, etc.).
